Exercise Rehabilitation of the Hip

The hip is the most neglected part of the body in an exercise program. even It plays a vital roll in keeping the ankle, knee and back injury-free. When the hip does become injured it places greater strain on the joints around it and increases the likelihood of injury to these surrounding areas. In this four hour course, you will learn the key structures of the hip, how to assess the hip to determine exercise readiness and various progressions for effective exercise rehabilitation for the arthritic hip, hip replacement, piriformis syndrome, SI joint dysfunction and groin strain.

Injury-Free Running
Douglas College (Royal Ave & 8th St) - New Westminster, BC

Within a year, 65% of runners will be injured to a point where they will need to reduce their training. This 4-hour session will allow participants to develop an understanding of the mechanics involved in running, how to assess the runner, training and recovery techniques and dynamic warm-up exercises. In addition exercise rehabilitation of common running injuries like IT band syndrome, hip flexor tightness, plantar fascitis and shin splints will be covered. This course is designed for fitness & rehabilitation professionals that would like learn how to train their clients to run injury-free.

Ballast Ball Workout
Douglas College (Royal Ave & 8th St ) - New Westminster, BC

The Ballast Ball Workout is for anyone looking for new and challenging exercises for their group fitness classes, boot camps or personal training clients. The Ballast Ball is a weighted stability ball that is filled with a type of granular, sand-like rock which prevents the ball from rolling away. As the contents of the stability ball are constantly moving, it forces your body’s stabilizing muscles to fire and react with every movement. In this practical and exercise filled two hour session, you will learn dynamic movements, partner exercises, stabilizing exercises and progressions on classic exercises. It is an excellent tool to add to a Fitness & Rehab professional’s tool box as it triples as a stability ball, medicine ball and core stabilizing tool. The Ballast Ball was designed for participants of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels, and for those whose fitness goals include enhancing aerobic capacity, strength and flexibility.

You will be provided with a comprehensive manual that details all aspects of joint replacements from the surgical procedure to exercise programming to creating your own class.
