Nalgene Bottles Can Increase Your Risk of Cancer!

CancerSmart Consumer Guide

On September 18, the Bill Good Show on CKNW had Shawn Griffen (Research Coordinator) and May Burrows (Executive Directory) of the Labour Environment Alliance Society on the radio to talk about the third edition of the CancerSmart Consumer Guide (52 pages).

Few Things They Covered:
- New section on Breast Cancer in the book.
- Some wine glass stems have lead which leaches into the wine and increase your risk of cancer.
- If a female starts smoking within five years of her first period, her risk of breast cancer increase by 70%.
- If a Teflon pan heats up past 360 degrees or cut with a knife, it can release a chemical that has been linked to cancer.
- With regards to water bottles, they advise you use water bottles with a 2, 4 or 5 at the bottom and ignore 7. The single use water bottles are a 1 and they recommend not to use them over and over again because a cancer causing chemical may leach out of the plastic over multiple uses.

If you would like to help your clients decrease their risk of cancer, you need to listen.
