Cardiac Caregivers Face Increased Heart Risk: study

The stress of nursing a family member with a serious heart ailment can lead to heart disease for the caregiver, a study suggests.


Those who provide all or most of a cardiac patient's care had higher levels of risk factors for heart disease than non-caregivers, researchers in the United States say.


As well, those who reported higher caregiver strain after six months were more likely to be depressed than those who provided less or no care.
