4 Things I Learned About Plantar Fasciitis and Exercise

My blog guy is amazing.

Last Wednesday, I had to take down the ExercisesForInjuries.com blog.
I was having all kinds of server issues. My blog guy thought there maybe a 10% change that he would be able to save everything that was on the server.

He DID!

It has taken him four days to fix it. I am not looking forward to getting his bill but I am super happy the blog is up and going again.

Now onto plantar fasciitis exercises.

I did a bit of web surfing for exercises for plantar fasciits.

The stuff on the internet sucks.

They have all these boring stretches. Most are not effective and done incorrectly.

Over the last few days I have been digging in the research to check to seeing what I have been doing for plantar fasciitis is correct.

Well some of it is correct but there is so much that I am doing wrong.
Here are a few things I found in the research about plantar fasciitis:
- Three steps that are forgotten in a plantar fasciitis exercise program that are vital for pain-free success

- What is the most effective way of stretching the plantar fascia, weight bearing or non-weight bearing exercises?

- What is the best strategy for people that have had plantar fasciitis for greater than 10 months?

- Are you wasting your time stretching the calf with a client that has plantar fasciitis?

I will be revealing the details of what I found on the Plantar Fasciitis & Exercise this Friday.

Take care.

P.S. - This Friday I am doing a webinar on Plantar Fasciitis and Exercise. I have found a number of things in the research that has changed what I do when it comes to exercises for client's with plantar fasciitis.

Do You Need Some More Clients?

I am swamped right now.

I am looking for people to take on some clients.

I have been contacted by a Kinesiologist and an Occupational Therapist to take on more clients but I can’t.

The big thing is I need to be confident on who I am giving these clients too.

If you have taken the three weekend exercise rehabilitation courses, then I know you can take them on.

The courses I am talking about are:

- Exercise Rehabilitaton of the Lower Body Weekend
- Exercise Rehabilitation of the Upper Body Weekend
- Core Stability Weekend

If you have taken the three weekends of courses, let me know by replying to this email. I want to send you clients.

If you still need to attend the Exercise Rehabilitation of the Lower Body weekend, it is happening April 17 & 18 in New Westminster. You can register at:

P.S. – If you are not able to attend the Exercise Rehabilitation of the Lower Body weekend, you can attend the Plantar Fasciitis and Exercise webinar:

==> Plantar Fasciitis Exercises

P.S.S. – Tomorrow I got a video for you on knees.

Look Who Walked Through the Door - Lumbar Fusion Exercises

I never know what is going to walk through the door.

Since I am the exercise and injury guy, I get it all.

A few days ago, I had a back fusion client come in.

I kind of chuckled when I say him as I just finished up doing a bunch of research for tomorrow's Lower Back Spinal Fusion and Exercise webinar.

==> Lumbar Fusion Exercises

Since it was our first session, he was a bit leery of what exercises to do.

Since I just put together a workout for tomorrows webinar, I had one ready for him.

Before I wrap up this email, I just wanted to share with you a tip when working with a lumbar spinal fusion client.

Don’t do the lower back extension machine.

Your client does not need the strength to do this movement.

What I do is work on the isometric activation and endurance of the lower back muscles. I do this with upper body exercise machines.

For example, I will get him to do the seat row machine. I will modify the technique by adding a step to the exercise. Prior to performing the rowing movement, I will get him to lift some or all of his weight off the chest pad. He holds this position and then does his set of rowing exercises.

Lifting the chest partially or fully, activates the lower back muscles. Holding this position works on the lower back muscle in an isometric contraction and since there is no change in the joint angle of the lumbar spine, it is a safe exercise for a client recovering from a lumbar spinal fusion.

I will chat about what I do for the weight for this exercise, tomorrow.

I hope this helps.

We will see some of you on tomorrows Lower Back Spinal Fusion and Exercise webinar.

Take care and have a great day.
